February 08, 2012 - Six Secrets For Love Beyond Valentine’s Day

By Oasis Audio

Cinderella’s story might sound far-fetched, but it’s the fairy godmother and pumpkin carriage that are unrealistic, not the happily ever after.

Relationships are rewarding, but they’re not effortless, and the real work comes after you say “I do.” The Five Love Languages has transformed the way couples communicate across the globe and Dr. Gary Chapman is back with six secrets to a successful marriage in Happily Ever After.

Happily Ever After pulls insight and empathy from Chapman’s 30 + years of counseling experience and, more importantly, the nearly 50 years of marriage behind him. With wit, wisdom, and the anecdotes to back them up, he takes on the six most common problems that couples face: fighting fair, negotiating change, managing money, raising kids, maintaining a healthy sex life, and getting along with in-laws.

Sound familiar?

The best part is that Chapman’s advice is practical. Despite the title, this audio book isn’t about fairy tale love stories. Just real-world examples and battle-tested advice to help your relationship grow today and for years to come.

And what better gift is there for this Valentine’s Day? As you’re ordering flowers or planning a candlelight dinner, don’t forget to include a gift that will help strengthen your marriage “until death do us part.”

Because living happily ever after isn’t just for fairy tales.

March 31, 2011 - How QR Can Improve Your Audio Book Experience

By Jordan Smith, Web & Digital Coordinator

Back in December, you may have noticed something a little different popping up on Oasis Audio products. 2D barcodes, in the form of Microsoft Tags (MS Tags), have been giving our customers unprecedented access to our products before they're even purchased. We've been so excited to see this groundbreaking concept in action. By scanning the barcode with an app on their smartphone, the customer is immediately linked to a brief sample (typically 3-6 minutes) straight from the audio book.

Last fall, it struck me that audio book consumers were at a disadvantage when it comes to purchasing titles in stores, but I saw these barcodes as a way to level that playing field. It’s true that audio samples are often relatively accessible to the online shopper, but why shouldn’t our customers have the same opportunity when browsing their favorite bookstore? If a customer can open up a printed book, read a couple of pages, and decide if they want to buy the book, then they should be able to do the same with our audio books.

We believe that Oasis Audio delivers productions of the highest quality, and we’re willing to let you put that to the test. We want to give you a true taste of the experience they can expect from the full audio book so that you can choose your book with confidence. Nothing is more frustrating than a trip to the store and back, only to find out that the product just isn’t a good fit for you and needs to be returned. Fewer returns and happier customers? Sounds like a good idea to us.

In recent weeks, Brilliance Audio and Simon & Schuster Audio have begun to use QR codes (another form of 2D barcode) in a similar fashion. To make things easier on our customers, we’re now switching to QR, as well. You can obtain one of a variety of apps for your smartphone that have the capability of reading the code, and a simple search for “QR” should point you in the right direction. You can see a sample of one of our new QR codes below.
